The Answer ??? When it is a Sony Playstation Portable (PSP).
Sony said it would add a Skype Web phone function to its PlayStation Portable later this month in Japan in a bid to boost the appeal of the handheld machine, which is running behind Nintendo’s DS in sales. - Reuters
This is yet another example of technology and communications convergence in action. So next time you are in the market for a mobile phone do you buy a games console? an emailing berry-like system? or just a phone?
As the options for telephone/computing hardware get more complex and more strongly targeted to the Under 30s, will some of the 30+ community who just want simplicity get left behind?
I wonder what’s next?

I’ve heard of a taser with a built-in mp3 player. Or is that an mp3 player with a built-in taser? Either way it’s pretty sad. With the changes coming thick and fast, I often feel old.

Seeing I have already chosen to have a phone AND a separate PDA so that I DON’T get my emails while I’m anywhere else, I guess this 30+-Woman-In-Her-Dotage must be just about a lost cause. I have NO intention of adding a games console to my already too-busy life!

I find it interesting to see that you (Angela and Chris) have both mentioned age and that these types of developments leave you feeling cold, old or just plain disinterested.
These types of developments are definitely aimed at the under 30s market but I personally believe that age is a state of mind and not just measured by how well or otherwise we respond to technology.
For me feeling old comes when I try to run (ha more like suffle) on a pair of dodgy knees

Hmm, strange that not younger peop0le left comments here. No offence of course to you lot. Technology is technology ,it will be wherever you go…I mean, it was always where ever you were. So what if a taser has a mp3 player, I must admit it is useless, unless of course youre stuck in the desert with nothing…then you would wish for that that taser with mp3 player(and some water and food).
Its not that technology makes you feel old…its just that you didnt grow up in the ‘technology age’ as I did. I’m only 21 and I cant WAIT to see what they will bring out next!! Holographic systems are already implemented in major cities of Asia and some American and European Cities. Technology evolving is just being part of human. I mean, the wheel is a pretty great advance in technology, if we wished for it to stop evolving, I can ASSURE you, you would have regretted that wish!
