When is a Phone Not A Phone

The Answer ??? When it is a Sony Playstation Portable (PSP).

Sony said it would add a Skype Web phone function to its PlayStation Portable later this month in Japan in a bid to boost the appeal of the handheld machine, which is running behind Nintendo’s DS in sales. – Reuters

This is yet another example of technology and communications convergence in action.   So next time you are in the market for a mobile phone do you buy a games console? an emailing berry-like system?  or just a phone?

As the options for telephone/computing hardware get more complex and more strongly targeted to the Under 30s, will some of the 30+ community who just want simplicity get left behind?

I wonder what’s next?
