Even YOU can have video for your business

January 4, 2008 · → 10 Comments

I don’t know whether this post shoulde fall under the “Friday Fun” category or the “wow my business can now have professional quality videos without it costing a fortune” category.

Thanks to a heads up I got from Peter over at Saasu I’ve been at my desk messing around with the computer, even when I’m on holidays (some of you would not find that surprising).

And this is the reason …

Animoto is an application that takes images that you have on your computer, adds a soundtrack (either yours or theirs) and renders it together in a funky video format. You don’t need moving images – this will create the movement from static images for you – and you don’t need to be a geek – it is easy to understand. And as most small business owners love, it is a free application (for videos of up to 60 30 seconds).

In my opinion this leaves YouTube for dead when it comes to small business possibilities.

Have a look at a quick Working Solo intro that I put together in about 40 minutes of messing around.

My brain is very quickly ticking over all the ways that some of my clients could use this application.

If you get something together then drop back and let me know and I will come by and have a look.

Nice one, glad you see the value. I think this is huge. Their blog says 150 countries and a knock on the door from Google just 4 months from launch. Not bad!

    Cheers, Peter.

This is great Leah! Really, really tempting to go spend time fiddling!!! I’ll add it to my list rather than click the link right now… I love how you’re always sharing cool (and free!) things with us!

I was told about Animoto late last year and fiddled with it for about ten minutes, meaning to get back to it. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

Thanks for the nice write-up. It’s Jason here, one of the founders of Animoto. I came across your site through our Google Alerts, and just wanted to make one slight correction, so as not to mislead your blog readers… we actually offer free 30 (not 60) second videos. But that’s still enough to show anywhere from 15-20 images.

Thanks again for including us on your site!

    Cheers,
    Jason

I love it when the company themselves is reading and acknowledging the post. Awesome Jason! Go Animoto!

It looks like Animoto really has some fans here. And I agree with Marc in saying that it is great when one of the founders of a business takes some time to follow up (thanks Jason for dropping by).

Des Walsh has taken the step to have a play and you can see his nice results here -

Anyone else taken the plung and had a go?

I’m going to be taking this one step further and using Animoto for putting together a longer length video (probably 3 min) for my son-in-law-to-be’s birthday.

The video looks great! Very professional looking, too.

Love the new look of the site, as well.

Got something to say?
