Who Would Have Guessed 5 Was Viral
December 8, 2006 · → 12 Comments
If you have been a reader in the blogosphere for long you will know that there are hundreds (probably thousands) of viral threads happening at any one time.
This time I had noticed that some of my regular blog reads have been posting on “[tag]5 Things[/tag] My Readers May Not Know About Me”. I thought this was a nice way to build on the blogging philosophy of authenticity and transparency (which also happen to be values of mine). I also thought that it would be something that I get around to doing in January when I get back into more regular blogging after keeping my blog writing to a minimum in December.
That was until [tag]Rosa Say[/tag] did her post and then tagged me in her 5 people to pass the blog theme on to. Now I do love a challenge (can’t include that in the list cause most people know I can’t resist a challenge) so, inspired by Rosa, I am breaking out and sharing 5 things that you may not (or maybe you do) know about me.
- This week in December is a big one for me – a big one for white that is. 21 years ago yesterday (Dec 7, 1985) I was married for the first time. I was only 20 and I was getting married for reasons I didn’t even fully understand yet. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, that marriage ended 8 years later. I call it my trial-run, the marriage I had so that I could learn about all the things that would make my current one as good as it is. This coming Sunday (Dec 10) will be the 7th anniversary of my second marriage. We eloped and were married on the beach, just us 2 friends, and our celebrant. It was a wonderful day!
- I was meant to be an entrepreneur. I was doodling ideas for business as an 18 year old. I have had many people support me and many people not understand me. My first husband used to ask me when I was going to “get a real job” (I was consulting in telecommunications at the time). I suppose this is one of the reasons he became an “ex-husband”. My current husband, Ian, hasn’t always understood my passion for self-employment but his patience and support is boundless (and I love him for it). This type of support isn’t mandatory for an entrepreneur but it makes a HUGH difference.
- I love [tag]motorcycles![/tag] Currently I am not riding (due to time being focused on other things) but I am still a rider at heart. I know how dangerous it can be (having lost friends to this pursuit over the past 35+ years) but it is part of who I am. When I pull on the helmet and step over the bike everything else disappears. I am completely focused on my surroundings and my connection with the bike. To me it is a moving meditation.
- I will spend the duration of the Boxing Day and New Year’s [tag]cricket[/tag] tests between Australia and England (5 days x 2 tests = 10 days) watching it on TV. I AM a tragic! It is part of what summer means to me.
- For the past 16 years I have had long hair. My husband and step-kids haven’t known me without it. My nieces also only know me with long hair. It was part of who I was …. until Wednesday morning ….. I suppose I will have to update the old photo on the about page.

So there you go there are my 5 things. Thanks Rosa for tagging me!There have been many of my blogging buddies tagged already. [tag]Karen Wallace [/tag], [tag]Chris Owen[/tag] and [tag]Pete Aldin[/tag] have all been tagged (get to work on your lists guys!). As have [tag]Phil Gerbyshak[/tag], [tag]Carolyn Manning[/tag], and [tag]Terry Starbucker[/tag].
Some of you should start ducking now because here are my list of 5 to be tagged for the next round.
Come on down [tag]Chloe DiVita[/tag], [tag]Pamela Slim [/tag], [tag]Ben Yoskovitz[/tag], [tag]Char[/tag], and [tag]Chris Barrow[/tag].
With only 1 weeks to go until I am officially “off the air” for the Christmas break, I should get back to the client work.
Enjoy!

How do YOU like the short hair? Looks great to me.
Happy Anniversary!
Carolyn
Gack! I’ve been tagged…oh boy, the pressure, the pressure!
Now I know how people feel when I demand they write things for my writing projects…
Ben, think of it as a new goal.
Carolyn – Thanks for the warm wishes. I love the short hair. It makes a big difference here in Sydney during those 30-40 deg C summer days.
Ben – no pressure just curiosity
Leah – thanks for the tag – it sure made writing today/tomorrow’s post easier. It’s done and I had fun.
And, I love the short hair. I had long hair for most of my adult life – until this time last year and now it’s short. It looks so polished and pulled together.
Have a great weekend.
LOVE the bob and I’ll have you know my tag got done this morning!!!
Happy Anniversary to you and Ian. May the kids leave you alone!
Hi Leah – thanks for the link. Yes, I’ve been tagged – stay tuned for my list tomorrow (12/9). All the best!
Leah and Ian – Happy Anniversary for tomorrow… here’s to 70 more wonderful years together!
I’m thrilled you’ve taken the plunge and cut your hair off – the weight difference must be huge and you will really notice it cooler when you’re busy watching the cricket;-) It looks fantastic.
Thanks for the link, my 5 went up yesterday morning.
Thank you Leah, for letting me pull you away from your work – love your sharing! And we have yet another thing in common (except I didn’t keep up with it) – used to spend many many after-school hours dirt biking on a Yamaha when I was a teenager … what memories you’ve brought back for me!
[...] Leah Maclean at Working Solo has tagged me with a meme that’s been rolling through the blogosphere. It asks people to post about 5 things our blog communities don’t know about us. [...]
Nice new ‘do Leah. I like it a LOT!
And love your 5 things too. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.
Thanks for the tag Leah. I enjoy the challenge myself!
