I’m sure that I’m not the first one to say “OMG (Oh My God)! It can’t be December already!” Ben (and his band of merry readers) are setting Post-Thanksgiving Pre-Christmas Goals, Rosa is already talking about her December Ho-Ho-Ho’ohana, Pam has posted her Top 10 Favourite Things, and Karen & Chris continue on their crusade to Save Our Christmas Sanity (they are even giving away presents already).
So with 2 weeks until I will be “pulling up stumps” for a Christmas/New Year break and the need to complete :
- 3 new websites
- 1 new blog design
- a mountain of filing
- the Christmas shopping
- write 40 more Christmas cards (these are not negotiable for me)
- make a range of Christmas treats for the family (a lack of home-made fruit mince pies and shortbread are cause enough for revolution in our home)
So in order to be reasonable and get all of this done whilst still keeping my sanity (yes Karen & Chris I have been listening) this means that there are a few things that need to go on the back-burner until during or after the break (you might call them non-goals Ben).
- my blog reading is getting cut right back to absolute essentials (I know you are all essential in your own special way but your wisdom will still be there waiting for me to do some quiet summer reading during the break)
- my blog writing is also going to be kept to a minimum as well (if you would like to participate in a tech-tip carnival over the next 6 weeks I am going to post 2 reader tips each week until January 10th - just send me your favourite tech-tip)
- the technology boot camp that I am planning for small biz owners will just have to wait until January to get some more publicity (so I can focus on the clients I need to complete work for now). If you really want to upgrade your tech skills (think basic HTML understanding, better blog reading, better blog management, information products, podcasting and audio solutions etc) and want to get in early (there will only be 12 places to start with) then drop me an email and I will send you some details.
I am sure there are other non-goals I will have and they will get added to the “not right now” list over the next couple of weeks. So let the countdown begin. 14, 13, 12 …..
(BTW - for those of you that love the cartoons this one is from blaugh.com)

[...] This time I had noticed that some of my regular blog reads have been posting on “5 Things My Readers May Not Know About Me”. I thought this was a nice way to build on the blogging philosophy of authenticity and transparency (which also happen to be values of mine). I also though that it would be something that I get around to doing in January when I get back into more regular blogging after keeping my blog writing to a minimum in December. [...]
