New Year Renovations
December 29, 2006→ Add Comments
Please excuse the mess on the main site here over the next 7-10 days …. just undergoing some renovations in preparation for some new services and more structured blogging in 2007.
I hope that you have a thoughtful and fun Hogmanay (New Year for those of us with Scottish heritage).
A Time for Thanks and Wishes
December 22, 2006→ 3 Comments
There is not a great deal of 2006 left for me in a [tag]Working Solo [/tag]sense – all the projects have been put the rest for the remainder of the year, and most of today has been spent clearing out paperwork and getting the desk cleared off.
Now is the time for reflection, rest and rejuvenation (oh and cricket too). This will be my last blog post until January 8th when I return to the office full of renewed energy and passion for technology, design and helping small business women understand and leverage both of these areas.
Even though there are a variety of end-of-year blog writing projects I have to be honest and say that the energy required for these has “left the building” and I won’t be too far behind.
Just before I close the door and switch off the light for 2006 I would like to extend my thanks to each and every one of you – my clients, colleagues, readers, and friends. Many of you were nothing but a promise when this year started – we did not know each other but that changed in just 12 short months.
The Carnival of Entrepreneurship is re-born
December 14, 2006→ 2 Comments
Thanks to the hard work and vision of the multi-talented [tag]Ben Yoskovitz[/tag] (Instigator blog, Startup Spark and Where Is Basil? -now missing-in-action) a blog carnival that had disappeared from the horizon is now back. Ben has added another feather to his cap and taken on the hosting of Carnival of Entrepreneurs – the first edition was earlier today.
If you are new to Blog Carnivals they are a great way to :
- get to know some of the many blogs that are written in a particular area, which in turn can lead to some outstanding online connections (a carnival is how I came across Ben).
- get you and your blog known by people who are interested in the area that you write about. (again the kick-on effect of growing a network is ever-present).
If you are interested in knowing about the many blog carnivals currently making their way around the online world you can get more details at Blog Carnival.
If you are interested contributing to the [tag]Carnival of Entrepreneurs[/tag] then here are the details.
One More Way to Stop the Spam
December 13, 2006→ 3 Comments
As a business owner with a website or blog (you do have one don’t you?) your “contact me” email address may be delivering more spam than genuine enquiries.
One of the methods that the nasty spammers use to get the bazillion email addresses on their list is by syphoning off the email address you use on your site.
Who Would Have Guessed 5 Was Viral
December 8, 2006→ 12 Comments
If you have been a reader in the blogosphere for long you will know that there are hundreds (probably thousands) of viral threads happening at any one time.
This time I had noticed that some of my regular blog reads have been posting on “[tag]5 Things[/tag] My Readers May Not Know About Me”. I thought this was a nice way to build on the blogging philosophy of authenticity and transparency (which also happen to be values of mine). I also thought that it would be something that I get around to doing in January when I get back into more regular blogging after keeping my blog writing to a minimum in December.
That was until [tag]Rosa Say[/tag] did her post and then tagged me in her 5 people to pass the blog theme on to. Now I do love a challenge (can’t include that in the list cause most people know I can’t resist a challenge) so, inspired by Rosa, I am breaking out and sharing 5 things that you may not (or maybe you do) know about me.
Some of You Are Just Going to Have to Wait

I’m sure that I’m not the first one to say “OMG (Oh My God)! It can’t be December already!” Ben (and his band of merry readers) are setting Post-Thanksgiving Pre-Christmas Goals, Rosa is already talking about her December Ho-Ho-Ho’ohana, Pam has posted her Top 10 Favourite Things, and Karen & Chris continue on their crusade to Save Our Christmas Sanity (they are even giving away presents already).
